Material Handler/Driver -   Loads and unloads inbound freight and outbound finished product. Moves materials within the plant and transfers finished product to the warehouse. Delivers installation materials to job site.  Hours are 4/10's from Tuesday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime as needed.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials to be moved.
  • Lifts heavy objects by hand or with forklift or pallet jacks. Can become certified to operate forklift through Company’s forklift certification procedure.  
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Loads truck for Truck Operators.
  • Moves materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
  • Opens shipping containers, Counts, and records the number of units of materials moved or handled on designated production sheets.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, pallets, or other containers; Assembles crates to safely ship products.
  • Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.

  • Maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Must have computer experience, including experience with Microsoft products such as word, excel and outlook.
  • Responds appropriately to requests for routine information and communicates clearly and accurately and promptly.
  • Demonstrates a flexible, positive ‘can do’ approach to delivering team results.
  • Must have valid Drivers License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain DOT Certification (non-CDL) and maintain DOT physical requirements.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat. Physical Demands:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands, fingers, handle, reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear.
